Plus the JnJ vax is up for approval on Thursday. If approved as expected, they will start shipping doses as early as this weekend.

That's good to hear. My mom got her first shot in Shelton 2 weeks ago.

Good. Hopefully we can finally get it under control and move on. I am so covid weary.

This little thread you started a year ago now has over 5,000 posts! Agreed, I hope we can put this behind us by the summer or fall.

My wife and I are eligible to receive our first shots beginning next week.

Maybe the whole thing will be a bad memory by next year and we can get back to our normal lives.

Wow! In retrospect, I wish it did not have to be started though.

I'm hoping the fact that the numbers (including hospitalizations) suddenly stopped their downward trend in both NY and CT is just a brief blip and not the effect of variants etc. I guess we'll see....

Time will tell. I know we all want it over but I am not convinced that we won't see these other variants spiking things up. NY just announced a second case on Long Island. Both actually. Where there is one, there are more.....Its probably more widespread than anyone knows right now. Remember last year around this time when 1 case was reported......then how fast one case skyrocketed. I hate to predict the worst but I have a hard time believing we will win the race to vaccinate enough people before these strains gain a lot of ground. However they feel the vaccines will work on the UK and maybe not as well on the South African one. Not sure if there any updates on this. But remember ,the more infections there are, the more they can mutate.
I really hope it does not happen but Long Island exploded rapidly last year. Again, I hope I am wrong but I think I have been pretty accurate on a lot of this. Hope for the best.....prepare for the worst.

What I meant was I'm hoping by next year this will all seem like a bad dream. I do suspect life will be returning to normal sooner rather than later.

I believe that when scientific studies are done years from now about COVID, it will be determined that an overwhelming percentage of the world population actually had this thing and had little or no symptoms.

Point being--yes, we probably will achieve herd immunity by the spring or summer. Or at least I hope so.
