I think its a non-starter. Too many suburban Dems would be voted out if zoning was taken away from the towns. Plus I don't think Lamont has any interest in it. Which is why they basically ignored the issue in the special session.
This is very interesting. The Desegregate Connecticut group appears to be out to eliminate local rule which I strongly support. Nothing good comes from having large regionalized governments. It wrongly contends that Connecticut’s zoning system is broken. I disagree since it is what preserves Connecticut’s character. The group is led by Sara Bronin, the wife of Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin. I had thought he would be a good candidate for Governor. Now I am having second thoughts on that. Jay

I can’t afford to live in backcountry Greenwich - are they going to build units for my family? Why stop at housing. What about nicer/luxury cars. It’s discriminatory that lower income families can’t own.

Indeed. For going on almost 400 years, local government worked in Connecticut and other NE states and brought government as close to the possible the people. People fought a revolution in part to protect it. But now all of a sudden it is a problem.
I have no doubt that some SJWs sincerely believe that zoning and local governments interfere with their schemes. But it would not also surprise me in the least if some developers are behind proposals like this too.
It seems that something similar was tried in the 50's or 60's with regard to housing.
