Honestly, what's the deal with Rt. 7?? I was driving around and interviewing for jobs in New Milford and thought it was a very ugly town. Yes, there is a downtown, but there didn't seem to be anything there. I drove by the lake, but is there a lot of public access? It seemed to be for people who lived there. Please tell me about the positives of the town to live/work.

Route 7 isn't a very attractive highway with many big box stores, gas stations, car washes, etc. Up in the hills of New Milford, you'll find quiet neighborhoods and friendly people.

The pros to New Milford are its relatively low cost of living compared to other towns in the greater Danbury area, low crime rate, the New England feel (away from Route 7) and good schools.

Around the lake, Squantz Pond in New Fairfield has public access. I'm not sure about other areas. You may want to call New Milford town hall and ask. Much of the lake consists of private beaches - welcome to CT.
