The obvious answer is............ where there is less population. (Away from I-95/I-91)

I've been to a few of them in Western CT and have to say the one in New Milford is the best one.

The one on CT Avenue in Norwalk is a zoo during the day. Even though they have 2 Walmarts in Norwalk, they need to open one up in Stamford or something.

If I have to go to Walmart, I go to the one in Torrington. I specifically would avoid the ones in Danbury and Naugatuck

It does depend where in Connecticut you live. It makes no sense to recommend going to a Walmart in the Hartford area if you live in Fairfield County.

I know a family member prefers the Shelton Walmart over Stratford one. The Cromwell and Rocky Hill Walmart’s aren’t overwhelming either while Hartford, Manchester and Newington (the Berlin Turnpike) are always busy.

The quietest Walmart I’ve ever seen is Avon, Connecticut. It’s in upscale Farmington River Valley so it does not get the same clientele the more urban stores do. But it is small. I wouldn’t drive out of my way to go there. Jay

This.

The Stratford Walmart is such, such, such a dump. The Shelton and Milford Walmarts are significantly better alternatives and worth the extra few minutes of travel time.

Minor correction; this map is missing the Walmart Supercenter in New Haven (off of 91, Exit 8). Not that anyone is missing much, IMO, as the shopping experience is definitely not quiet. Not as bad as the Stratford one, but still unpleasant.

I will never drive out of my way to go to a Walmart. I feel gross just walking into one. Sometime I need to hit one because it's closer, but Target is a much better store. If I need to do real shopping, it's worth the extra time to drive to Target.

A big thumbs up for these two statements. I only shop online at Walmart. I throw things I need into the online cart and when I get to free shipping then I buy.
