Hi y'all,

It's been 5 years since I posted on C-D.

I'm attracted to Greenwich, specifically the East Port Chester area of Byram, for the low taxes and seemingly good schools. Wondering if a mixed white and latino couple (with future mixed kids) could expect to endure any inordinate racism in Greenwich.

Best,
HUTD

Greenwich is pretty diverse. It has about 8,000 Latino people. I doubt you would have any problems particularly in Byram which is the most diverse part of town. Jay

Should be no problem.

I was born and raised in Stamford (I am now in Trumbull) and a worked a few jobs in Greenwich. One was right in the area you are talking about. I worked at a little graphics company on Mill Street. That area is the most diverse area in Greenwich.

There is a map on here that shows the breakdown of races. Here is the page with the map.

I did some for you and put them in this pic. The yellow shows the Hispanic population.

Greenwich, and especially Byram, is diverse, contrary to popular belief. I’m confident that you’ll be just fine.

Greenwich is one of CT's largest cities. The big honchos in town don't use public schools anyway.
Fairfield County and the Stub region of CT are part of the NY Metro Tri-State which has a very diverse and global influence overall. Its not uncommon to see mixed personnel. Folks won't be aghast when they see you.

We should call the stub region of CT, the "Panhandle," as I am sure the residents of Greenwich will love hearing that

To the OP, there are no issues with Byram. As others have mentioned, Byram has a good number of Hispanic residents and Port Chester (across the River) have an even higher Hispanic population.

Too short to be a "handle".

Thanks. Yes we like Port Chester also but the property taxes in Byram are wayyyy lower.
