2) Even if you lived on the West side near the highway, it takes longer than 20 minutes to get to Fairfield Metro. I'm a basketball coach @ Warde, live within a quarter mile of the Merritt and 3/4 of a mile from 25 and even the days I take the highway there it still takes 20 minutes to get to Warde and that's probably another 10 minute trip. Even when I go to Ludlowe, that's a 30 minute trip for me, so your looking at a minimum 25 minutes. Unless your off of Madison or Park, it'll actually be faster to get to Bridgeport or even Stratford if you live in the East part of town.
Really? It’s 20 minutes for me coming from Gulf Beach area of Milford to Fairfield Metro. I would expect Trumbull to be about the same.

I think you over estimate how long it would take to get to Fairfield Metro Center from Trumbull. Fairfield Metro is about a mile off of I-95 so someone from Trumbull would take Route 25 south to I-95. Warde is not near a highway so you are driving along local streets and dealing with slower speeds on local streets, multiple stop signs and a couple traffic signals that slow you down.

I Googled the trips from Trumbull to Warde and Trumbull to Fairfield Metro the Warde trip was 6.7 mile and took 12 minutes. The Fairfield Metro trip was 8.8 miles but was only 13 minutes. The difference was the drive on highways verses local streets. Jay

You got it.

The people living near the 8/25 connector in Trumbull can make it faster than the people living in the northern part of Fairfield or southern Easton. You can't go 70 to 75 MPH+ (with no lights) in the town of Fairfield like you can down the connector. The connector is jammed up like 1-95 and the Parkway. Here is the interesting thing. 1-95 in that little stretch is 4 lanes so it's not bad once you get onto 1-95 from the 8/25 connector.

"13 minutes"
Don't forget that is based on 55MPH. When I go down the connector at 60 MPH it is like I am standing still compared to the other cars. It takes me 13-15 minutes to Black Rock near the train station but everyone else must be shorter times.

.
Most can handle one day a week to midtown. You have plenty of downtime to mitigate the effects. You might even skip a week, heck.
Trumbull to Stamford or White Plains 5 days is daunting when you factor in the highway's limited lane capacities. That's where you need to keep an eye on blood presuure and hair follicles. West Fairfield is probably the final frontier for any commute in that direction. It's best to draw a hard line in the sand there.

I don't even think I could do 4 days a week to Stamford or White Plains either. I'd probably want to rip my hair out after the 2nd day.

Id take 1-2 day long train commute over a shorter car commute with traffic any day.

I love driving but not THAT kind of driving.

How short?
Anything between Westport and Greenwich isn't going to upend lives.
But yeah, most would favor being home 4 days/week than in an office for 5.
Hell, I'll fly out west for the 1 day if I could have that in perpetuity.
