No word if they will appeal the denial but I’d be surprised if they didn’t. Traffic can be ambiguous especially in high traffic areas like this. Scale and harmony are also questionable since there are other fast food places nearby like McDonald’s and Dutchess. Seems arbitrary to deny it. Will see. Jay

I do love me some CFA, but I will say the company needs to address the traffic issues first and foremost. The CFA not far from me creates massive backups on the main road and is a major quality of life issue to residents traveling in the area. I say good on Fairfield for denying their application in hopes the company make attempts to address this issue plaguing cities nationwide.

The Danbury outfit is in a mall so that doesn't impact traffic. The Norwalk one has a large adjacent lot that brings all the drive-thru off the roadways. It's a perfect setup. The Fairfield location wouldn't have that luxury. Good move.
Yeah, every chain you can imagine including donuts and pizza within earshot. Dumb excuse, no question.
We have that problem too here in Glastonbury. The thing is I believe the spillover would be directed to Eliot Street at the back of the site. There’s lots of room for queuing drive thru traffic there. Jay

I was visiting a friend in the Bridgeport area today and was listening to Star 99.9 on the way home and out of the blue between songs the DJ mentioned this almost exactly the way you are saying it (i.e. seems arbitrary, etc. and even mentioned McDonald's and Dutchess).

So you know, I am not that DJ. Jay

I hope whatever they do with the site doesn't prevent the eventual redesign that Post Road traffic circle area desperately needs. The final meeting on it is December 16th in case any of you are curious.

Any idea what they plan for the circle? I’d be interested in knowing. Jay

That circle up to the Black Rock Turnpike “circle” is maddening.

Only worse area is Stratford near exit 33. Designed by nincompoops.

Here's 5 example concepts. I'm not sure if I really like any of them, but admittedly I don't really know if there's a good alternative that will fit given the space constraints due to all of the property already being built on the poor layout of the area.

Well, Fairfield is getting a Chick-fil-A after all. Instead of building a whole new building with drive thru like proposed a couple years ago, the company is going to just rehab the old Joe’s American Bar & Grill building. They won’t have a drive thru which was the major issue when proposed a couple years ago. Because they are remodeling the existing building no further town approvals are required, just permits to do the work. Jay
