Lamont's fiscally sane, I don't care too much about social policy. Social policy matters not if you have no money left to do anything else.

Exponging felons records is wrong, but I'm guessing Lamont is giving on on social issues, to keep the state affloat, stop the tax increases, & stop the exodus of "makers" from leaving. He has to pick his spots.

As I indicated before felonies have always been erasable in CT. The convict just needs to pay $50 and fill out an application and send to the state board of pardons. So Lamont hasn't changed anything.
The board of pardons also has the power to deny applications. So the chomo's will remain chomo's

The country needs a lot more leaders like Lamont, who is at least trying to ditch the radical liberal policies, & move to the center to find some balance. I hope he succeeds, but turning around youth crime trends, & improving higher learning must move up his priority list, to keep the radical liberals at bay.

Also, I just read another post here showing gov't jobs in CT growing by 4,100, & private sector jobs shrinking by 600, & that is the radical liberal gov't winning. Governments do not grow the economy....gov't is a zero sum game, in the long run....see Cuba as an example.
The growth in government jobs are the Indian casinos which reopened and brought back workers furloughed during the pandemic. They are not true government workers. Jay

And as I replied to that indication, it was a rigorous process that a felon would have to go through to attain that. It was actually quite rare, and even more rare for the violent felony crimes automatically expunged today. Key words - automatically. There is no process, now. It’s all erased, regardless.

The -600 private sector is the troubling part of the report.

The government sector added 4,100 jobs, with the local government component particularly strong, adding 4,200 in June. Government includes all federal, state and local employment, including public education and employment at the Native American-owned casinos.

A bad report, as the vital sector, the private one that generates the GDP, lost jobs.

I hope we do better going forward.
