The latest extension is beyond absurd, government overreach. It provides him pretty much unchecked powers on this another 3 months. No doubt, there will be a push by Labor Day to take it to 12/31, then Q1 2022, Q2 2022...
With Democrats, absolute power is the goal. Complete control of our lives with the stroke of a pen. Now, they can really get things done! We will still be talking about this at end of Q4…
While I'm not saying things should be the way they were say last fall, it hasn't gotten quite that bad yet, you do realize we're kind of reverting in terms of infections and may need to be a little more cautious than we were last month.....would you honestly be saying this if it involved a Republican governror?
People just need to get vaccinated and we can finally put this to bed (to be fair, the Northeast in general and CT especially has been one of the most vaxxed places in the country and I am not directing this at you personally).

I don’t think this has happened with a Republican governor, that’s sort of the point.
I vote mostly democrat. This is clear usurpation of power. The emergency powers are just a way of doing an end run around normal procedural government. This should be challenged in court, with a request for an emergency injunction ending the emergency powers and mandating the resumption of usual governmental procedure.

I don't think we've had a pandemic when a Republican governor was in charge. But whatever. I don't care what party is in charge as long as they have emergency power because this thing is not done, not gone, not over. The people who were vaccinated early on are losing their immunity because it's turned out the vaccine only lasts 6 months. We'll need to coordinate something to get them vaccinated again probably with a booster. Younger kids are also getting very sick and there are so many new variants now, not just the Delta that is slamming the UK, but others too. It's going to look bad by fall and to top it off we get kids going back to school. Somebody needs to have the power to help us.

It’s really no secret that there is a big divide in the approach by political party. They have emergency power. This greatly extends it. Given the massive overreach experienced by residents in states like Connecticut, or “lockdowns”, anymore power given to these politicians is concerning.

And the scary thing is, people are here defending it.

As much as I said I'm for the emergency power to some extent, I'm not convinced the vaccine only lasts 6 months. Pfizer is saying that but CDC and FDA disagree and Moderna hasn't commented. Remember, not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but boosters make money for them so they are going to be as quick as reasonably possible to say we need it. It appears that most infections are still among the unvaccinated, and almost all the hospitalizations and deaths (and exceptions may be people who were immunocompromised to begin with).
Our country is NOT out of the woods yet with this pandemic whether anyone likes it or not. Too many people think we are and are too quick to make snap decisions.
The new variant is sweeping the country. Infections are up. The CDC does not know how effective the vaccines are at fighting it. Since Connecticut is so tied to New York, the major entry point for the virus, there is the potential for TOO many problems to rush fully returning to normal.
Lamont has not abused his powers that I see and unfortunately there are too many ready to politicize this. That does no one any good. Have patience people. Jay
