Definitely want to avoid metro ny if possible. Does Route 9 have low bridges that don't allow RVs? I know in New York we got off the NYS thruway at 9N and had to get right off be ause of the low bridges.

Nope, Route 9 in CT is fine for typical tractor trailer vehicles, campers, etc. Route 15 (aka the Merritt Parkway or Wilbur Cross Parkway) is what you need to avoid in CT. Low bridges with max 8' tall vehicles allowed.

I took 95 to 287 all the way to Route 1 in NJ towing my 8x10 today. The roads are easy to navigate even with a trailer, but traffic can still be bad. I made the turn from 95 onto 287 around 5:30am, so traffic was light. However, you might be surprised how many truckers are out there 4-5am in western CT.

We cannot thank you enough for this recommendation! We just got home and what a difference!
