Well then, since CT university alumni are included, here is an international one.

Yamil Isais

He's originally from the Dominican Republic and went to the US to study in Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT and is now an alumnus from that university. In 2014 (around there), he and a business partner founded Pioneer in Santo Domingo, DR. It's the first investment firm created in the DR (hence the name) that is not limited to very wealthy individuals and companies. The company invest mainly in premium private real estate throughout the DR, both residential and commercial. For example, a new Club Med resort open near the town of Miches and they are one of the investors of that project.

The following video is in Spanish (and rather old by now), but at least you can see which one is Yamil Isais (the guy with a red tie or first appears on the left in 0:50). In this morning show in Santo Domingo, they explain how the business works.

The investment company is on the right in this Google Maps image.

Now there are many similar investment companies of this type (geared towards a wider range including normal people rather than just the wealthy) based in Santo Domingo, but Yamil Isais founded the first of its kind and basically created the private investment industry for the masses in the DR.

Just now I remember of another one, Guillermo González. He was from Santo Domingo and got a degree in architecture from Yale University.

He is considered to be "The Father of Modern Architecture in the DR." Unfortunately, many of the buildings he designed no longer exist, but many others either with modifications or as he designed them. He slso designed other spaces such as parks. He also did many drawings before he became an architect.

This book was published rather recently about him and his works. It's in Spanish and in English (the English translation starts on page 260). Here are many photos of him and msny of the buildings/spaces he designed mostly in the Santo Domingo area. The book is entirely viewable in Issuu (see the link below), though new hard copies are not available anymore (used to find them in Dominican bookstores and in some in places like Madrid, Spain; San Juan, Puerto Rico and others). In the cover he's the one standing on a step different from everybody else.
