This isn't an earth-shaking concern, probably more of a trivia question --- but as a newcomer to the state, I'm wondering:

First -- is Southington pronounced "SOUTH-ing-tun" or is it "SUTH-ing-tun"? I've heard it both ways.

Also -- Berlin: "Ber-LIN" (like the city in Germany) or "BER-lin"?

My personal favorites are:

Wolcott - Wool kit
Harwinton - Har win tin (it doesn't rhyme with Torrington since there's no "g")

For some unknown reason, people pause when they say "Cheshire." I tell them "just like the cat," which makes them more confused.

"Bury" = berry. Or, if you prefer, "bury" as in "to put into the ground." I don't know how anyone could get "bur ree." This is one way to spot which TV news anchors are from this state and which ones aren't.
