Having used heating oil, nat gas, and propane at various homes I have lived in, I don't have a strong preference. The billing schedule looks different as Cam stated, but other than that it has been a nonissue for me.

I use 200 gallons a year but only use it for hot water and some heat in the mornings. at $4 thats $800 for 12 mths. Thats $66/mth

Not sure what the average person uses. Maybe 800 gallons a year?? $266/mth at $4/gal
Older drafty home with older furnace would cost a fortune. You'd be better off with piped gas.
Newer or well buttoned home with a newer furnace will be more efficient.

LOL. No way. Not buying that. Lets face it, you aren't filling up from June to September unless you take 2 hour showers everyday. So to use 1500 gallons in 6 months is tough to buy

I've asked this question in the previous thread as well and nobody answered. It's like nobody knows what they're paying for or nobody in this forum uses oil?

If you have a large, poorly insulated home, or keep your home very warm it is certainly possible to use that much oil. According to this link, the average sized CT home uses about 900 gallons of heating oil per year:

I average 580 gallons/12 months for heat and hot water. 2,600 sq ft. 30 year old house. But, also have a pellet stove that offsets some of the oil consumption.

Is oil more expensive in Easton than other parts of the state?

Cam, I have natural gas, so that's why I never answered you!

Let's not lose site of the fact that the state giving us a CT tax free month on gas purchases is just a loan to be paid back later. A bandaid.

We need policy reform to help get us out of this mess.

This should give us a little relief at the pump.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/mark...?ocid=msedgntp

"Connecticut became the latest state to approve a gas tax holiday as the governor signed a bill into law Thursday suspending the 25-cents-per-gallon tax from April until June."
