You kinda hit on both reasons why.

1) I know I can say a lot, to the point where it's too long for most to pay attention, so after I saw your post (and really Jay's) I left it at that - yes, I truly believe Fairfield is best representation of what makes CT great.

2) There are more rounds after this. I'll have my eyes on the shoreline east towns.

That said, some inland areas are quite nice. I love Litchfield and some of the towns around it. The further from a major city, the better. I also like some of the suburbs in the Hartford area. West Hartford is crowded but I like to go there for the restaurant scene. Avon has a certain charm to it.

There are lots of beautiful places in the state.
I definitely agree with much of what you said. For Non-Coastal towns: Litchfield, Essex, and Glastonbury are my favorites.

Litchfield is very charming and it's rural in the middle of nowhere. The downtown is cool, and it has two of the best ice cream places in the state. Lots of green as well.

Glastonbury also has some great green, and I love the town center. I really feel that the town center is a nice place to walk around and there are a few parks to enjoy hanging out and getting to know other town residents. I also really appreciate Cotton Hollow, The Ferry, and Blackledge Falls. Nature is great there.

Essex is just such a unique town with one of the best centers in the state, as well as the Steam Train and Riverboat. Quite a few iconic restaurants as well.

Then I also have a lot of appreciation for the Barkhamsted / Hartland area. Very foresty and rural, and I could dream of living there some day, maybe after retirement. In fact, I really feel that those towns are underrated on here. I think its mostly that people don't know much about them at all, but they are really cool and unique towns to live in if you love forests, the woods, and rural areas.

Round 5:

Deadline: Friday, May 6th at 8:00pm Connecticut Time.

West Hartford vs Milford - Honestly a close call, but I'm partial to the shoreline.

Branford vs East Lyme

Fairfield vs New Haven - Fairfield is great & all, but as someone in their mid-20s it doesn't deliver like New Haven does

Ridgefield vs Stonington - Mystic + Stonington Borough. Enough said.

Norwalk vs Essex

Litchfield vs Guilford

Westport vs Madison - Madison is more quaint and affordable with better beaches (I'll admit Surf Club beats Longshore + Compo), but Westport offers a lot (+ the shoreline is pretty solid IMO) and its convenience to the city and amenities makes it the winner for me.

Glastonbury vs Old Saybrook

Deadline for Round 5 is tomorrow at 8:00pm. Make sure you get all those last votes in!

WOW, I must say that:

Norwalk vs Essex and Fairfield vs New Haven are starting to get really close and competitive!

Guys, we've got a lack of voters, I feel. Please jump in and vote at anytime and tell your friends to come on here and vote as well!

I am curious, when it comes to how upscale each town in CT is, how would you rank like the top 30 towns from most upscale to least upscale? Do you think this might be a fair rank of the top 30 upscale towns in the state?

1. Greenwich
2. Darien
3. New Canaan
4. Westport
5. Wilton
6. Weston
7. Easton
8. Fairfield
9. Ridgefield
10. Stonington
11. Redding
12. Guilford
13. Madison
14. Old Saybrook
15. Essex
16. Stamford
17. Litchfield
18. Glastonbury
19. Branford
20. Simsbury
21. Avon
22. Norwalk
23. Farmington
24. Milford
25. Trumbull
26. West Hartford
27. East Lyme
28. Newtown
29. Kent
30. Canton

I honestly might be way off on some of them, and maybe even missing a few. Is this a fair ranking estimate of the upscale towns? What do y'all think?

I would place Stonington a bit further down, below Madison and Guilford. I'd probably rank Madison above Guilford (more high-end real estate.) Thinking about Shoreline East towns, IDK about Branford being at 19 and Old Lyme being off the list. Median home price in Old Lyme is $522K vs $366 in Branford. Aslo, Old Lyme is more upscale than East Lyme. East Lyme has more to offer, but Old Lyme is more upscale.

If you're strictly going by home prices and income, that's easy. That's a layup.

1 - Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Westport
2 - Wilton, Weston, Stamford, Norwalk, Fairfield, Ridgefield
3 - The Rest

If you're going by looks, quaint New England centers, charm, then shoreline east after New Haven is at the top

Not sure what your basis is? Amount of wealth? Average house price? Income? Perception?

Stonington is too high. So are Branford, Norwalk, and Stamford IMO.
