I was born on greenwich ave in 1950. The big clock on greenwich ave across from the post office second floor apt my mom and dad had. I am currently 65 years old and worked on Greenwich ave in 1966 in a food store called gristedes which delivered groceries. I can name just about every mom and pop store on Greenwich ave. it was great. A few examples marks bros. Greenwich sport shop. Romanies faves food. Motor post auto parts. Garden poultry chicken. Woolworths.i used to deliver fruits to the Bruce museum because there was a zoo there with live animals monkeys and many other animals.the Greenwich pet shop sold birds turtles frogs fish rodents and much more.there were2 movie threraters one on the ave and one west Putnam ave. I worked at nielsons ice cream across from library.i also in 1968 worked at morose speed shop 298 west Putnam ave next. To McDonald's I went to Greenwich boys club and graduated old Gus high school which is the town hall now.i remember driving every day when it was two way street. Opt bowling alley oasis Texas hot dogs and Greenwich canteen. I also worked chicken delight . My father owned Greenwich linoleum on arch st which was burned to the ground mayor fire 1976. I know the real Greenwich from that era. I rode my by idle on I 95 before it opened. Anyone that would like to learn more contact me. I grew up in by ram have thousand memories.
