I am wondering what kind of trains running above the CSXT train road. It this a busy train road in Milford? I have been interested in a house which is located CSXT road away from 200m. Whether it is too close?

thanks for any input.

Default Rail Traffic/Noise

Kitty, Which line are you asking about? There are two, the first being the Metro-North Main Line made up of four mainline tracks with overhead catenary electrical power lines. These carry VERY the frequent service of Metro-North Commuter Trains, Amtrak, Providence and Worcester freight, and occasional CSXT freight trains. The second is the Waterbury Branch which heads north from the Devon section of Milford. This line carries less frequent service by Metro-North (pick up a Metro -North Timetable to see just how often, my guess would be about two per hour one north and one south) as well as Providence and Worcester Railroad freight trains which are probably still at a level of one northbound ballast train in the evening and the returning southbound empty train in the middle of the night. At the southern most point of this line there exists a yard for storage and switching will occur there at all hours by MNCRR and P&W. This is in the vicinity of the Gulf crossing and south to Devon where the branchline meets the mainline. One thought to caution and I don't know if you have any concern but it has been said that being in too close a proximity to the overhead high voltage electrical wires may cause a number of adverse health issues. Be aware that it would be a mistake to think any of the rail activities will change for the better, with growth in the Housatonic Valley and our energy problems, (for better or possibly worse in your case as a potential buyer) rail will be a major player. Best of luck.

Joey - Excellent response. I agree that the Waterbury branch will only get busier in the future. ConnDOT is studying improved service right now and I think we will eventually see very active service on this line. thanks for the great information. Jay

Thanks, Joe,

There are two pararell train lines from east to west I saw in the map of milford, one is located in north of I-95, which is labelled as metro north, the other one is in south of I -95 labelled as CSXT. I do think this CSXT is for the freight trains.

As you said, not only the noise problem, but the pollution from power lines is also annoying problem for nearby houses. And also reselling is also a problem. I am going to give this house up.

Thank you so much!
