What do you consider a long weekend trip(maybe 4 days). Where do you go and how far do you drive in each direction?. For me I’ll go as far north as Maine and as far south as Ocean City, MD. How far and where do you go on a long weekend trip

Litchfield/Goshen CT on a lake, Newport RI, or Rhinebeck, NY are nice to visit for a long weekend. Rhinebeck has Mirbeau Spa which is fantastic, and a great downtown.

I'd use 8 hours by car as my max. Roughly triangulating DC to Maine to western PA. I like mountains or water, so Adirondacks, Whites, Greens, Poconos would all be in play. Beaches from MD up through ME are also within range. I'd also include some Canadian destinations, as Ottawa and Montreal are not too far away. Then of course you have the usual suspects: Cape Cod, Block Island, etc.

Furthest I’ll go is Bar Harbor/Acadia or Quebec City. Incredible destinations.

Maine ranges from 3 hours to 10 hours away! Some day I want to go to Acadia, can't believe I haven't been yet.

With young kids, 4 hours max..you can be in Ogunquit ME in 3.5 hours from New Haven area. Marginal Way is gorgeous. I just don't find NY, CT, RI, MA all that relaxing though really beautiful spots. Maine is when start to reset brain for a bit. It is big state with lots to offer. Go early or go late though. Mid summer is too crowded.

Nothing more relaxing than the islands. Block, MV, Nantucket. Gorgeous. Maine feels removed, but so do they. In fact I find Ogunquit a little too touristy and busy. Once you get up to Boothbay and beyond, that’s the “real” Maine. Love Portland area though. Amazing food.

I do like Newport, and Rockport Mass. But they’re not like Maine.

Agree, Nantucket and MV are great. The Winnetu Hotel on South Beach was great.
Didn’t like Newport, for me.
LBI in NJ was ok.

Note- I no longer go back and edit fat finger grammar or iPhone autocorrects.
