Honestly, if an NHL team is to return to CT, it should be based closer to New Haven and branded as a statewide team. This way many more in FFC will be inclined to root for it and actually go to the games.

Ummm, doesn’t that article say the team had a valuation of $2.6 billion? He actually paid pretty close to what the team was valued at:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/mikeoza...n-of-team/amp/

And the Mets are now valued at $2.9 billion so even if he had overpaid his investment turned out to be very sound. I think it was very much about dollars and cents as well as his passion for the team.

Cohen bought low as the Wilpons devalued the team via inept ownership. Cohen knew he could turn that around. It was like buying an under-performing stock and replacing the top management with studs.

That is its current value and according to the article posted he bought 80% of the team three years ago for that price. Jay

The Mets should be no lower than 3rd ever. (Thanks (sar), Wilpons).

SNY is so huge, and local revenue is the X factor of MLB.

I can understand LAD battling NYM, with NYY always #1, but no one else should be competing with NYM on team value.

The Wilpons maintained ownership btw of SNY.

Yes, the team is valued at $2.9 billion now. Not a bad investment on his part.

Cohen is worth 20Bs and the Mets are his favorite toy, he could care less what the team is worth.

He's worth about $14 billion which is still amazingly impressive. But yeah, I'm sure no billionaires consider what their investments are worth. That's how they get to be billionaires right?

You just don't get it do you? you really don't. You become a billionaire to get special toys. And one who was a liflelong fan.
He cares what the businesses, homes, cars and the yachts are worth but oh no, not this one, hell to the NO! this is his baby. This is something else, this is his favorite most special big toy. One - Hundred - Percent - Does - Not - Care what its worth, not one iota.
And oh by the way, Verlander isn't looking like such a great investment now.
