For Litchfield county locations look at Crystal Peak in Winsted, Cornucopia in Torrington, and The Litchfield inn. The Elks in Torrington also has a very nice space and will cater it for you. Another beautiful spot is The Knights of Columbus building in Winsted but you will have to hire your own catering company to serve you there.

I have to disagree with you. But I do respect your thoughts. When I eat at a banquet hall I shouln't be sick to my stomach or leave the food on the plate. I usually attend 4-6 weddings per year and am very familiar with different places. NY has the best. The Castle in Cromwell has the worst. I have a wedding there this year. You can bet I'll have dinner before going there. It has gotten to the point where I can look at the food and I can tell if it has been prepared properly.

Crystal Room on 98 School St, Naugatuck CT has a good ambiance & the quality of food is exceptional and comes under your price range.

Saint Clements Castle is also a good place. It is built in European style and has a lake view.

Getting married in Saint Clements is like getting married in Camelot! It is a gorgeous site, but out of reach for most.

Have you checked out Mill on the River in South Windsor? It's got a lake with a fountain, a garden and a gazebo.

We also attended one at Hop Brook Tavern in Simsbury...little river with swans outside the window.

We got married last year after being engaged for 18 months. We live in torrington, ct and searched for a venue within 45 minutes from here. Afte lots of research, our best choice was Crystal Peak in Winchester. The rooms are gorgeous, the grounds amazing and the owners...simply wonderful! Most importantly, the prices could not be beat! Their prices include open bar, 9 different appetizers, salad, main meal plus a choice of 5 different options. These include adding a pasta dish, upgrading the salad and adding a sweet treat etc. We chose the sweet treats in which servers walked around about 1.5 hours before the reception ended with numerous sweet options which were delicious! Also, we had a formal tasting about 8 months prior to our wedding of our meal choices.
Their website is www.crystalwedding.com

Also, if people don't show, they pack up the meals that you paid for and send them home with you! I was suprised how many places indicated in their contacts that if people don't show after the final count, you paying for the food and not getting the food!

If you need any other info or need budget friendly ideas for invitations, a great budget friendly flower shop or any other budget friendly ideas, let me know! We paid for the entire wedding w/no help so I learned how to save $$$~!

Good luck

We just got married last week at White Memorial in Litchfield. It was small we only had 20 people. It was $100 to rent "The Meeting Barn" and we had to buy insurance for $200. They let you have alcohol and you can stay as late into the night as you want. It's a pretty good deal if you want a low budget, not very fancy wedding. We had lots of fun and I recommend it.

A friend of mine just got married at the Jonathan Edwards Vineyard in North Stonington. The wedding was beautiful and I remember her saying that it was pretty affordable (I don't know the exact price per person). Another nice place is the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown, I have been to many beautiful weddings there but I believe the cost runs around $100/person. Good luck, and Congrats!
