Are there snakes, black widows, mosquitoes, something else? Is it true that viruses propagate more in a humid environment? I understand frost kills everything so it is a good thing to have.

There are mosquitoes here- in areas with wetlands and swamps, there will be more. Periods of wet weather will make them worse. They are most prevalent after dusk and before dawn.

Snakes; Common garter, black snakes, corn snakes- 2 poisonous species; The eastern timber rattler- liking dense woodland areas as the name suggests, but also in areas with large rock outcroppings. Their range is limited to only a few areas of the state now. Also the Copperhead- wood and wetland areas. Both snakes are timid and not common. A bite from a rattler is likely going to mean a trip to the hospital as elsewhere. Bites are very uncommon here.

No black widows. Viruses? No. Cold and frost tends to keep the insect population down, like roaches and other pests. Bees are treasured here for what they bring to pollination in farm crops, fruit orchards and flowers.

Ticks and Lyme disease are a problem throughout the northeast and Connecticut to be taken seriously- common sense outdoors in the summer for humans and domestic pets is a must. Be careful in wooded areas, and places with heavy brush and grass undergrowth.

6. least hazards
7. newer homes
8. humidity
It is hard to compare the two towns. Greenwich is an upscale older suburb of a major metropolitain area, Newport Beach is a former resort area far from a major city that has become an upscale suburban community. My thoughts on each of these:
  1. Being ocean front with prevailing winds from the open ocean, Newport Beach's aair quality is better
  2. You can't beat Greenwich schools
  3. While there are few large grocery stores in Greenwich, there is a great online home delivery service offered by Stop & Shop (one of the local stores) that is used by many in the area
  4. Greenwich is considered one of the most desirable places to live in the country attracting a wide range of highly educated international people
  5. If you are tlaking about drinnking water, Greenwich is excellent. If you are tlaking about the ocean, it would be hard to be Newport Beach
  6. As others mentioned, natural disasters are rare in Greenwich but common in Southern CA.
  7. Both Newport Beach and Greenwich are now pretty builtup so there is not a lot of new construction unless it is done by tearing down an older home. There are a couple of new developments in Greenwich but they will be very pricey
  8. Connecticut has humidity in the summer but it is rarely around for more than a couple of days at a time.

Hope this helps, Jay
