It's a shame that Bridgeport continues allow places like these two theaters go to waste. The Steel Point area, basically all of downtown, etc. Just another example of the ongoing corruption that has plagued this city for decades.

The city administration needs to be completely revamped. From Mayor Finch down, trust me there is someone out there fit for the job that can really change the city around. It's just that it hasnt happened yet.

Actually, downtown Bridgeport has made some great strides in recent years. Many of the old buildings are being renovated and turned into new residences. Will it become the great center it once was? Who knows but it is certainly on an upswing. The Palace and Majestic are two sad points but some of the rest is coming along. Check it out. Jay

I'm currently trying to get support to restore the theatres and would like to put together a list of people who
1) could provide some historical information about the site or who attended when it was open (e.g. russello)
2) would be interested in aiding with the restoration project
3) are interested on being on a mailing list about it's restoration.

If you're interested please email me at palacemajestic@gmail.com
Thanks, Christina

I wish they they'd bring back the Strand Theater. Remember H.L Green, Gold's Deli and the Rivoli Theater? I remember going to Peter's on State Street and getting served when I was 16.

I might be interested. It is a wonderful old building that should really be saved and used for something. Jay
