my gf and i are looking for a single family home 30-50 mins from Coventry towards NY. We are looking to get into a place within 7 months. We would like a realtor who is proficient with email as it is the ideal communication for us since we are both out of state right now. I am in FL and she is in NY working. She does have the oppurtunity to get up to CT each weekend to look at properties. I am stuck due to my job so my only way to see the properties is thru web listings, photos, videos.

Our price range is $300-$500k.
3-4 bedrooms
2.5+ bath
open floor plan if possible (or the possibility of opening it up)
not a main st
1+ acre
updated heating system
central air

we are willing to get a house that could use a few renovations to update the house and put some equity into it.

neighborhood:
young
good school system
active neighborhood
we are a young couple looking to start a family in a few years and want to be surrounded by others doing the same but in a upscale town

some towns that have caught our eyes are (don't know too much about them besides pictures we seen, so if anyone has any input on them please fill us in):
glastonbury
simsbury
naugatuck
west hartford
middletown
southington

realtors can email me at crhansen83@yahoo.com that is the best way to contact me as i do have weird hours for my job. i am constantly looking at different websites for properties so if you have some interesting listings then just send them my way

thank you
craig

Hi Craig - Sorry I did not respond to this sooner but it was a tough day. Of the towns you mentioned I really think only Glastonbury and West Hartford meet your description. Simsbury, though beautiful, would be a long drive (about an hour) to Coventry. Southington (about an hour) and Naugatuck (over an hour) would be even further. Middletown is nice but the school system there does not perform as well as other towns.

West Hartford is a more mature town with older homes on smaller lots. Your desire to have an acre would be difficult there. You may find something in Glastonbury but it is one of the pricier towns in the area. You might want to consider a more rural and less expensive town like Marlborough, Hebron or Bolton. You will find the home you want there for the price but be aware these towns are small and have less activities.

I don't have a recommendation for a agent in these areas but if you do consider West Hartford, Amy Bergquist helped me and seems to know a lot. Good luck, Jay

Maybe Wallingford could be an option as well?

Wallingford is about 45 miles fro Coventry so it too would take about an hour. Jay
