Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help me out. We are a family of eight. Our children range from 14 to 1. We are originally from NY and are now looking to leave ATL headed for CT.

Could anyone suggest nice diverse areas to look in? Also, we are looking to rent a house but are unable to locate rental info on the internet. Could anyone point us in the direction of rental homes. Is there a site or specific newspaper?

Thanks

It depends where in CT you want to live, how much you want to spend and what you expect for that price. There are a lot of nice towns in CT to live. Check craigslist.com for rentals. It is a great resource. Jay

What's your budget for a rental? That would help us help you a bit more...Jay is right about craigslist. It is an excellent resource for rentals.

As for diversity, Stamford & New Haven are excellent choices.

Default Follow up on leaving ATL

Actually we were hoping to rent something for about $1200-$1400. I suppose any less than that would be unreasonable right? As mentioned before a diverse community, low crime, suburbs. I don't want to shock the kiddies. Does Metro North travel all through CT?

No metro does NOT travel thru all of CT. Here is a map. MTA Metro-North Railroad

How many bedrooms are you looking for for 1400 a month? 1400 a month will get you a MAYBE 3 bedroom apt/rental home, though i'm not sure if you could get that in the suburbs for cheap. Rentals would be cheaper in a city atmosphere.

Where in CT are you looking at, central, Shoreline, NW corner, NE ???

Their aren't TONS of suburb areas with lots of diversity, but they may have some.

Well is the city in CT like Brooklyn city or still small and quaint. 3 bedrooms will work for now. Not sure where we want to be. We want a good mix of people, a safe environment, etc.

Keep in mind that CT is nowhere near as diverse as NY or Atlanta!

So the suburbs may have some diversity but not alot. The cities tend to have more, though most also tend to have more crime.

Windsor might be good for you. Diverse...suburb and good schools!
It is easy commutable distance to HArtford and to malls.
I personally think thats your best bet, its a nice town.
Only one i can think of off the top of my head that might fit perfect.

Keep in mind, im not that knowledgeable about the shoreline!! So Windsor is more upper central CT

Manchester also may be a good bet.
