My wife and I are considering a move to Fairfield area within the next year or so. We both play hockey at high levels and was wondering if anyone could tell me if there are good adult hockey leagues or good pick up in the area. I would be willing to drive a bit for a good skate.

any info would be greatly appreciated.

It is a bit far from Fairfield, but...

I sent you a pm. I lived in Darien for 10 years and played on a women's A league team for a bit and then a B team. Both were based in Stamford. Google Stamford Storm and perhaps Stamford Stampede.
As far as the men's leagues go, most towns seemed to have competitive leagues. Usually A, B, and C.
Good luck and have fun on the ice. I miss the team I played for. Now I just coach.
Jo

Not sure if you have decided on Fairfield...but if you end up in the Hartford area, there's a good men's league in Newington. Also - I run a women's team in central CT - we are a low B - high C senior women's team (there's a bit of a range in the skill level on any women's team in the state...just the way it is). We have a great time and get to play some pretty good hockey. Season is from Oct-March. Just let me know if you are interested and I can send you my contact info.
Ciao...and good luck!

Ahhh, the hockey years...once all my friends got married and I moved to CT it was all over...I miss it...never played on ice, just rollerblades.. I remember playing in the NHL Breakout hosted at Playland in Rye, NY... I dont know why they stopped that tournament!

Anyway - let us know what you find...send pics of the ice! Sometimes I go to the rink in Cove Park in Stamford to just be around the ice.

Glastonbury has a great inline skate hockey rink called ZRink. I know they have leagues for all ages. Jay

I just wanted to add that I agree that the Rinks at Shelton are the best in the state.

The league is excellent - while you're going through drills, there are a ton of things for the kids and family to do at the Sports Center for an affordable price.

If anyone is looking to join send me a DM and I'll help get you more info.
