Are those median or mean (or something else)?

Either way, that's some good info Rich. Thanks (not that I'm moving, but it's nice to know anyway).

They're average (or mean) prices for the first quarter of '08.

Just a sidenote: Take all data with a grain of salt. Stratford has zip codes of 06614 and 06615, however gfc claims that 06497 still exists. It doesn't.
It was deep-sixed many years ago when Stratford changed over to having 2 zips(06614 and 06615).

They also claim sales in the 06904 zip of Stamford. Sorry, no property address in Stamford bears that zip.

Garbage In, Garbage Out.

I tend to agree with you. But according to USPS - The United States Postal Service (U.S. Postal Service), 06497 is still valid. As for 06904, it's for post office boxes, only.

I remember well when Fairfield and Stratford were given Fairfield County (068xx) ZIP codes. This, of course, is excluding Stamford (069xx) and Greater Bridgeport (066xx) who have their own series which is where Stratford fit in along with Easton. I couldn't (and still can't) understand why Newtown (including Sandy Hook), Monroe, and Shelton weren't switched over from New Haven-Middlesex County ZIP codes. Southington, with its 4 ZIP codes, still has 064xx?!

In any event, the figures for real estate transactions are by town and not ZIP code.

LOL. They don't specify 06910 as being "unique" or a P.O. Box in Stamford, but it is. 06901,02,03,05,06,and 07 are the only physical address zips in the city. They may(not sure) have converted 06497 to p.o. box use.

At the time when Stratford lost 064 in favor of the 066's, it was explained to us that 064 codes were processed in Wallingford and that the switch to 066 would result in the mail being directed to a closer processing plant.

That is true but it doesn't explain Wallingford to Newtown, Wallingford to Salem, or Wallingford to Old Saybrook! Then again, nothing can explain Hartford to Sharon.

Thanks Rich,

I know the nice areas are out of my price range, but I can dream :-) there was an area in Norwalk that I was in and it didn't seem bad but I wasn't there that long. The train stops there but I don't recall the stop name but Strawberry lane was near by and exit 16 off I95 is close. Is that a good area to look?

You are probably talking about East Norwalk. Strawberry Hill is there. Jay
