Friends:

Is there any summer theatre in Clinton, or nearby? I'm thinking of summer stock faire, like musicals or cabaret type entertainment.

Thanks!

How near is near? I don't know about Clinton itself, but there is the Stony Creek Puppet House Theater (link) in Branford, usually a number of theatrical performances of well-known plays on the Guilford Green, the year-round attractions at The Ivoryton Playhouse (link), The Yale Cabaret (no summer shows; link (http://www.yale.edu/cabaret/ - broken link)), The University Theatre (no summer shows), The Yale Repertory Theater (link), and finally, The Eugene O'Neill Theater (link (http://www.theoneill.org/index.asp - broken link)) in Waterford. Ah yes, there are also even more serious professionals at the Long Wharf Theater (link) and the Shubert Theatre (link).

Wouldn't it be wonderful if every town did a summer stock production?

It would also be great if CT took those new entertainment tax incentives and focused them on getting the old and ignored landmark theaters re-opened in a CT version of Branson. Why not have all our aging stars that live here already open up their own theaters? Don't some of the Stones live in Weston? Wouldn't it be cool if the downtown Bpt Palace and Majestic theaters were Friday night at the Rolling Stones? Or get a commitment from Letterman to work the Shakespear in Stratford 1 night a week after he retires?

Yes!

Our town hall (Andrews Memorial Town Hall) has a lovely theater within it. During the summer, and year round, they hold all types of preformances from summer stock style performances, to musicals, opera (Opera Theater of Connecticut, Opera Theater of CT, performances, history, mission, contacts, current season, Andrews Memorial Theater, Clinton, CT) and classical concerts (George Flynn Tickets (http://www.georgeflynnclassicalconcerts.com/georgeflynntickets.htm - broken link))

I drove by there today and they're currently running some type of children's theater performances.

Your best bet would be to call the town hall to get more info. It's ongoing and I'm having a hard time finding a link with a calender of events.

So to answer your question again, Yes!
