Well, I wouldn't give up. There are affordable homes in wethersfield and Newington and WH, they may just be smaller or need a little more updating that you may initially want, but definitley look around. Another option would be to buy in a less expensive area and send your kids to catholic school. Elementary education is about $3500 per year per child (where we live anyway) and some offer tuition assistance if that helps you. You don't often read on here about the other half of the towns in CT. Sometimes because everyone who posts wants to be in a good school district so the other towns are not mentioned and other times its just because of misinformation on how good or bad certain areas are and prevailing sterotypes and bias. Do your homework and I'm sure you can find something.
