Hi,

I just bought a new home this week. There is one pine tree about 12 feet tall that in the front yard and that needs to be cut down. I am planning to do it by myself with the help of friends and a new chain saw (need to get one, please recommend if you know the good one).

I am not sure after I cut it down where should I dump it? Can you please give me some idea?

My new home is in South Windsor.

You can probably rent a chain saw for the day instead of buying one. Stihl and Husquarvana's are the best models. There will be a lot of people looking for firewood, cut it up and put it by the road with a free sign. What are you doing with the stump?

Pine is not recommended for firewood. It causes a lot of deposit on your flue and chimney.

We used to burn 8 to 10 cord a year in the late 70's and early 80's and a good portion was pine. The key is to use seasoned wood and keep the stack temp up.

It's still not good practice. In a fireplace its not easy to keep the stack hot. I'd just chuck it over the fence. Course you might have neighbors.
