Do both, why not?
Does that picture of the Walrus chicken dinner look amazing or what? you know you looked it up

The last time I went to KFC was to the one that was on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield. I have been to two different Popeyes in Bridgeport plus the own that used to be at the Trumbull Mall.

Thank you for the Drumstick suggestion. I am definitely willing to go to the northern end of Main Street. And it is much closer to me than n Westport.

The KFC on Black Rock Turnpike has been closed for years now. It’s likely a decade or more now.

I wouldn’t dismiss all but the northern end of Main Street in Bridgeport. The fabulous Del Prete Italian Bakery is on Main Street south of North Avenue (Route 1) and it’s certainly worth going there. If you like fish & chips and/or fried seafood, Mainport Fish & Chips on North Avenue near Main Street is also very good and worth a trip.

Daybreak Donuts on Capital Avenue near Madison Avenue are very good and Micalizzi’s Italian Ice on Madison Avenue is fabulous. If you like Corned Beef, Woods End Deli on Wood Avenue near Wade Street is excellent. And have you tried Testo’s Pizza on Brooklawn Avenue at Five Corners (Wood Avenue, Suburban Avenue)? It is also very good as is their main restaurant/banquet hall on Madison Avenue and Westfield Avenue.

My point is there are a lot of great places all over Bridgeport. You are really missing out if you limit yourself. These are safe areas where my overly cautious Fairfield family doesn’t hesitate to patronize. They are all within a couple miles of you. You should check them out. Definitely worth it IMHO. Jay

I wouldn't hesitate to go to any of those places.

Testo's on Brooklawn Avenue is actually in Fairfield, and I go there on a pretty regular basis. Woods End deli is very close to Testo's.

I tend not to go below North Avenue most of the time, but I will go there if the place is really good.

When I say North End, I usually include Brooklawn in that, so I am open to anything north of Capitol Avenue and west of Main Street.

I have also been to a good pizza place (the name escapes me) on Boston Avenue over near Route 8. And I have been to the Popeyes in Black Rock and on Boston Avenue at the end of Capitol Avenue. But I am not a huge fan of Popeyes.

I would have been surprised if you hadn’t been to any of these places since they are so close. All but Del Pretes is north of North Avenue (Route 1). A couple (Woods End, Daybreak, Micalizzi’s and Mainport) are south of Capitol Avenue. They all are definitely worth the trip. Del Pretes certainly is worth going south of North Avenue. Try them sometime. I think you’ll be pleased. Jay

I am going to Del Prete today, based upon your recommendation, to get a cannoli cake.

I used to go to Luigi's, formerly on the north end of Main Street, for Italian pastries and cakes, but they are no longer open for retail customers. So I have needed a new Italian bakery. I hope I really like Del Prete.

Great. Let me know what you think. I know the neighborhood is a bit sketchy but they’ve been there forever and for them to survive that long there means the must be doing something well. I hope they live up to your expectations. They are know more for their Italian cookies but we’ve found everything good, though I haven’t been there in years now.

It’s a shame Luigi’s bakery closed. I used to love their rum soaked cakes. I did find this about the Cannoli Pie Company offering Luigi’s cannoli pies but their cafe looks to be closed. You can call and ask. One article says you can get them at Stop & Shop but I don’t remember seeing them. Will have to look. I might try ordering through Goldbelly. Again good luck with Del Prete’s. I hope you like it. Jay

I’ll have to try Del Prete’s sometime.

Lucibello’s is my go to for Italian pastries/cookies.
