Hmm...I seemed to spark a lot of debate when I was trying to clarify my sources, explain why the law enforcement enforces the law, and declare why I was interested in this topic to begin with. And yet, when I once and for all repost my question (even going so far as to put it in bold letters) everything seems to wind down. What? Perez evidently controls the Courant's message boards, does he control this one too?

hahaha, well if I say what I want to say, you're gonna disagree with me. Trust me. So I choose to disengage.

Oh come on man!
All I want are opinions that answer my question, as long as they are civil, relevant, and thought out well. I simply asked for a thumbs up or thumbs down on the guy. I take it that you seem to appreciate the guy. That's fine! Just tell me why! I don't care if your rationale is "there was no one on the ballot who was better" or "because Perez smells good." Don't think that I'm here to bash anyone who counters me. For the final time I only assume the guy is corrupt because I've heard only negative things about him and nobody singing his praises. If my assumption is wrong, then I invite you to set me straight. But so far, all anyone has been able to do is ridicule me. I mean really? Is that the best this forum has to offer? Blatant ridicule?! Look, if none want to actually voice their opinions then you leave me no choice but to stick to my assumptions.

I give the guy a thumbs down.

I'm a Hartford resident and didn't vote for him last election.

To Leilani: Thank you so much for trailblazing. It took nerely 1 1/2 pages, but I'm comforted to see someone who finally honored my original objective. I cannot thank you enough.

To Stratford, Ct. Resident: I appreciate your statement. I was not aware of this aspect of Connecticut civics, so thank you for enlightening me. On the other hand, I think there might be a slight misunderstanding. I'm talking about Mayor Eddie Perez of Hartford (who is elected by the citizens of course). It is his approval rating that I'm curious about. I don't think I made any mention of any police chief or commissioner.

I will give you my impression of Eddie Perez, but note that I do not live in Hartford. It is definitely thumbs down. He has little to improve hartford overall and is kind of riding on the coattails of Mike Peters. Mike Peters managed to get alot done to start improvements in Hartford but Perez failed to follow through. In fact I believe he is one of the key reasons that Front Street has still not been built. The right Mayor would have pushed to get that key element of the downtown revitalization completed. Instead Perez is paying back his "people" with favors that do nothing to improve the image of Hartford as a city. Too bad because Hartford was on the right path for major changes that would have probably started bringing people into the city. JMHO, Jay
