I understand that Home Depot is trying to build a location in Trumbull not too far from the rt 111 / rt 25 interchange. Basically up on the hill overlooking Old Mine Park and across the street from Trefoil Drive. Lowes was also trying to build across the street, but I think that was squashed by Home Depot and the town of Trumbull.
I have not heard anything for quite a few months on this possibility but I am pretty confident that it will become reality in the future.

Both of these projects have died, at least temporarily. This could change anytime soon. There have been several lawsuits against both of them and between the owners of these sites. Jay
I love the fact that Monroe doesn't have huge shopping malls, it's mostly a residential town with mini-malls. (I could do without all the mini-malls, but oh well, too late now) Home Depot is only 15 minutes away, and large malls also ranging 15 minutes-30 minutes in Trumbull/Milford/Danbury. For movies, there is a theatre in Trumbull only 15 minutes away. As previously mentioned there is the Big Y and possibly Stop N Shop grocery store, a McDonald's, Dairy Queen and other ice cream shops, gyms, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Subway, Quiznos, hardware stores including a large Ace Hardware, furniture stores, an educational toy store, butchers, numerous gift shops, restaurants, I could literally go on and on, I've only mentioned a few. While we don't have large shopping malls, we still have numerous retail stores all along Rt. 25 and Rt. 111.
I am not sure how Monroe compares to Long Island, since I have heard there are some really pricey areas of Long Island. What part of Long Island were you referring to, Mgr?
