We moved from PA to FL 8 month ago and we are ready to move back north! We are planning to move to CT but the job search is delaying us. I see a lot of people in here who are moving from other places to CT and have a job offer already. Can anybody tell their experiences about how hard is it to get jobs before you move. like how long does it usually take to get a job, do they pay for relocation (even though relocation package doesn't matter to me). My field: International Transportation/Customer Service Management/Logistics. BA/Pennstate. experience 13 years. Female and bilingual in english/spanish. Would consider to work 20 miles within Stamford or 20 miles within New Haven. I appreciate your input.

I'm moving to CT this summer and have found the following sites helpful: fairfieldcountyjobs.com and newhavencountyjobs.com. Hope this helps.

Look into the Hartford area, tends to be a little cheaper, and less crowded. Hartford has plenty of Fortune 500 companies to choose from, along with Bradley International for a transportation hub.

There are many job opportunities in the Fairfield-New Haven County area. If you live in Fairfield County and can afford the high price tag, you can commute to NYC, White Plains NY, Northern NJ, New Haven, Hartford or Danbury. It's pretty centrally located.

Thank you guys. I have already tried those websites but a few companies telling me once I move there to contact them. I would prefer to move with a job offer first. I really want to know how people from this thread got a job offer before they moved? Do you have to be a VP? Any suggestions?

Well...I've done it going both ways.

What I have done is visit the area and interview. You are getting shut down IMO because it seems you might be focusing on the job before trying to get an interview. Once you meet them face to face and say "I'll relocate in X days" it's a no brainer.

That's my basic take and experience.

Good luck.
