To answer these questions, the station we are talking about is in the east side of Fairfield off lower Black Rock Turnpike near the Bridgeport city line. It is not in Watertown. The station's parking lot will actually be operated by the state, not the town but it may draw on the long list of people looking for parking in Fairfield. You do not have to be a Fairfield resident to get on that list. Also note that most of the funding for the parking lot will come from the revenue the lot will generate by selling passes or from day parking. The station itself is being built by the state. The town is putting up money for the parking lot initially but it will eventually get that money back in funds from the state and taxes from the new developments in the area. Also note that property values will likely climb in the vicinity of the station once it opens and that will bring additional revenue as well. No matter what, the new station will help both Fairfield and Bridgeport. Jay

No offical date has been announced but I would htink it would be closer to mid-year given the work to be completed on the commuter parking lot and access road. Jay

What I heard is should be up by the end of the year. The new schedules that come out in October should have the Black Rock station on the timetable even though it won't be officially open until about November or December.

Just in time for the 20% fare hike. Gotta keep those Metro North worker's pensions nice and fat. Pathetic.
