Well yeah, White Plains is an economic center.It employs 200,000 people. Stamford only employs about 75,000.

White Plains grows each year mainly from Suburban companies relocating. Same is happening other cities in this region , Newark has seen quite a few companies move from nearby suburbs to its Downtown. Jersey City , New Brunswick , New Haven , Providence and Philly have seen similar relocation booms over the last 10 years. It doesn't appear to be slowing down either. New problems are cropping up , lack of Rail investment to and from and within these areas is starting cause massive traffic jams. People have no other option then to drive in most cases , but they live in an area or corridor that was supposed to have a Railway service by now. White Plains was going to have a Rail Corridor connect it to Rockland and Fairfield Counties thus reducing the I-287 congestion but thats been sheveled for now... Stamford's Light Rail network was supposed to up and running by now or under construction but its on hold... Every Time a project is put on hold , it holds back the corridor or city it would service.

Yeah, a lot of companies moved to White Plains in the last 13 years. The population between 2000 and 2013 was a 17% growth. White Plains population is 65k and could reach 75-80k by 2020. A lot of people in CT drive to White Plains. I used to work in White Plains. Between 2000 to 2013, Stamford grew by about 4%.

Eh not so much. The 250,000 figure touted just one time by the mayor includes shoppers and employees as well as factors in near by Harrison. The bulge bracket law and financial jobs still reside over the CT border. What private funds (PE/Hedge) are in WP city limits? WP does have a good mall with terrible parking going for it but is also land locked.

Not being a hater in CT, but honestly White Plains has alot of CT cities combined. It has Stamford and Hartford by being a major economic center, employing more than Hartford and Stamford combined. It is New Haven because it has 3 malls (Galleria, Westchester, The Source) and a lot of 3 story shopping places. It has good restaurants also. I wish there would be a city like that in CT.
