Hope Street and Fahey Street looks great. A huge improvement over much of the rest of new residential development in Stamford which tends towards the bland concrete box look.

In reality, most projects in Stamford are in the post-modern form and look nice, a few are quite interesting. The bland concrete box look is more of a Harbor Point trend, which I don't understand why the city government is allowing this to happen. Its quite an opportunity to create interesting looking high-rises. Oh well...

All of the new stuff I see going up are bland, cheap-looking concrete boxes. There's a few somewhat older developments that are more of a colonial-esque look. And some that are glassy and ultramodern (Trump). There are a few exceptions but I'm generally pretty disappointed with the new projects aesthetically. Friends who live in some of them complain that the construction is pretty shoddy, too.

About 4 months ago this was made public about the hole in the ground:
And this was a few days ago with visible evidence of ground movement. These photos may function as a 'before' stage. Hopefully it will not be too long before I can offer the 'under construction' and 'after' photos..

I saw that that hotel is going up, strangely right next door to another hotel.
Doesn't Stamford have enough hotels, or is the demand really that great? I've stayed at a few of the Stamford hotels over the years for parties and weddings and such, and none of them ever seemed full. But that was the weekend, and maybe with business travelers they fill up on the week days?

I think it's mostly for business. It's not much of a tourism city.

Doesn't Stamford have enough hotels, or is the demand really that great? I've stayed at a few of the Stamford hotels over the years for parties and weddings and such, and none of them ever seemed full. But that was the weekend, and maybe with business travelers they fill up on the week days?
