I think most of the comparisons (wealth, distance from downtown, housing prices, traffic) are valid except one.
I don't think Orange County has any "poorer" urban areas like most of Bridgeport, parts of SoNo, or Stamford south of the downtown area and as such Fairfield has more minorities than OC.
Santa Ana is one huge poor city in the OC.
Orange county is minority majority, while Fairfield is still 3/4 white.
The only comparison that could really be made is southern Orange county and southern Fairfield county.
If youve been reading, Fairfield County and CT are old family money....trust funds...ever hear of those?...country club memberships...yacht clubs...Not new money.
That isn't currently accurate. Probably hasn't been the case for a generation.

Old money people usually fly under the radar so they are not as prevelant as the new money people you are seeing more in Fairfield county now. don't worry though they are still there. Jay
I currently live in the PNW and am seeking a different culture. I'd like to live in a small town/city (up to 100,000). I'm an artist, so have a good art community is important to me. I'm single, 41 and value safety where I live. I also need a close proximity to water, parks, botanical gardens, zoo, nautical scenery. These relate to my lifestyle and work.

Old money doesn't go as far as it used to. Greenwhich was known for new money way back in the 40's Harrimans, The Bush, many newly rich Irish families. J.P Morgan thought so lowly of the Harriman and Bushes he question whether they were even white.
Of course we also may be going by different definitions for old money. I'm talking money from the early 1800's and Waspy money.

While there is a lot of new money here, CT has a TON of family money, especially when compared to other regions.
