Study: Fewer Catholics In Connecticut -- Courant.com

Thanks. I saw this article in the newspaper as well. I was just wondering about the two statements that I bolded. Fifty percent isn't "most people."

I think it has more to do with the fact that many people here dont vote with their religion. Although im not catholic, I was surprise to see that the church, being the largest in the state, did not send anyone to UCONN to advocate voting "yes" for the question at last year's election. I asked friends that were catholic, and they said "they didn't care". In the south, this would never be the case.
You're onto something here...

Interesting comment. Can you give some examples of nations in which this occurred?

Really? If I had four dogs and two were Cocker Spaniels, I wouldn't say that the majority were Cocker Spaniels.

I have a church here in town that I like because of the community (people) that attend but the service itself isn't as dynamic as we are used to. I have 2 more recommendations to check out.

But, ideally I would like to stay close to my own community so no further than Trumbull or southern Newtown. We love contemporary worship music and need an active youth group and love small group bible study. The denomination doesn't matter could be Baptist, Congregational, Methodist, Presbyterian, etc.

Any recommendations?
No sorry, i only have church recommendations in Hartford County. I didnt realized where you lived! good Luck though!

Politically liberal areas (i.e. New England, San Francisco, Portalnd Oregon etc.) have always been shown to be the least religious/church-going.
Coincidence? I think not.

You're right it's probably not a coincidence.
I am catholic and most of my friends are as well and they are all also conservative. So i think it would make sense that most liberal areas/people are non religious.
I haven't met any practicing Catholics yet who are liberal.

Another 1% and it would be. And not that it means anything, but I'm not Catholic.
