She said that sadly it was true. I laughed my @## off. That is pathetic. What kind of skewed world view does a child get growing up in a town like New Canaan.....you don't have to face the consequences for breaking the law and if you met someone that isn't "ultra-rich" and just plain "rich" then they are "ghetto."

By the way, anybody hear that those two brothers from Greenwich just plead guilty to trafficking hundreds and hundreds of pounds of illegal drugs from Canada to Southern CT????
The problem is you are trying to prop up something that's very obviously broken as being "good" and taking something "good" and trying to say it's broken.

You have to look hard for the bad in the burbs, all you have to do is walk down the street in our cities and it's everywhere. The desparity is, shamefully obvious.

OH NO, NOT MARIJUANA!

Seriously get a life. How can u compare drugs to shootings and cold blooded murder that occurs almost DAILY in CT cities? You need new priorities!!

Google Hartford Shootings and see how many results show up. Or Bridgeport, New Haven, Bronx, and so on.

She said she felt embarrased to say it but that it was true of most of her classmates. She went out of her way to let me know that she didn't feel that way.

I find it interesting that I've been attacked in this thread. You suburban people love to insult the city but you sure have thin skin when comes to what is going on in your own backyard. Can we all try to act like adults with different opinions?

I'm sure that what happens in New Canaan happens in many wealthy towns in CT. One reason I wouldn't trust crime stats from those places.

Wow! Some of you are being really unfair here to politricks. Granted I don't hang around the Connecticut forum very often as I become embroiled in enough politically-charged brou-ha-has on the Northern Virginia and Northeastern Pennsylvania sub-forums, but if what he/she/it alleges is true about teenagers being permitted to break the law in New Canaan so that they can get "cut a break" as they apply to Ivy-league institutions, then that is indeed a reason to be aghast. One would assume that a prospective "stand-out" student would exercise better judgment than to brazenly disregard the law.

Once again I don't know why so many of you harbor such animosity for he/she/it, but politricks makes a valid point about a serious double-standard. I'm only 22, and I never would have DREAMED of consuming alcohol until I was 21.

Because said person IMHO is a troll and has multiple user names and does nothing but bash those not poor and living in the ghetto.

Something like that.

Paul, this is a troll who has come up with at least 3 different usernames. Her only motivation is to malign the suburbs. Why? Who the hell knows? Or cares.
