That's good to know. Though, would you mind elaborating on "nothing more than you would normally find in an upscale suburb?" I've always lived in small towns (a few towns past the suburbs to what one would consider "country") so I'm not sure what to expect. Thank you for being so helpful!

Glastonbury is a town with 33,000 people and is the home to a number of businesses and retail establishments. It is not unusual for there to be some burglaries, shop lifting, traffic mishaps and some domestic incidents. There is a relatively small drug problem in the schools though from some of the media coverage people would paint it as running rampant. It is not. You will find these same things going on in other towns like West hartford, Farmington, Avon and Simsbury, as well as places like Wethersfield, Newington, windsor and South Windsor. This even happens in small towns like Bolton Hebron and Burlington. Unfortunately it is part of most of America these days. Jay

Default Bolton commute?

Can anyone tell me anything about the commute from South Windsor to Bolton (291 to 384)? Would this be as busy and crowded as 91, 84 or 2? Thanks!

I used to take 291 to work and it was never that crowded...I would say it would be less crowded during rush hour then 91 to 84 would...

And I-384 is a breeze. It is a wide highway with multiple lanes so you could get to Bolton very quickly. Jay

Default What town did you chose?

Wondering if you moved to CT and where you decided to live. Sounds like we are looking for similar attributes. Are you happy with your move?

Our criteria:

1) Good schools (two young kids)
2) Low crime
3) Nice, walkable downtown area (sidewalks, nice shops and restaurants)
4) Homes within walking distance to downtown with mature trees and character (around $500,000-$600,000)
5) Short commute to South Windsor (15-20 min or less)

Does this town exist?! Thanks!

Im in south windsor. I think 1. 2 and 5 are good for south windsor. There really is no downtown unless you are counting either Geisslers or stop and shop and neither are really walkable

But South Windsor has Evergreen Walk which is a walkable lifestyle shopping center. It is very nice. Jay
