Thinking of visiting one of these weekends. I know it's near the water.

Would anyone please make recommendations for:

- shopping
- sightseeing
- local, famous eateries for both lunch and dinner
- bars

also, as it's near the water, are there spots that I can drive up to for a picnic, or at least, for sightseeing? like a romantic waterside spot? To watch the sunset? etc?

There is Greenwich Point Park which is beautiful, but will cost you an arm and a leg to enter if you are not with a Greenwich resident. Next to downtown Old Greenwich is Binney Park, which is also beautiful, and I believe free for anyone. It is not on the water though.

I would suggest you drive up to Westport (four towns up). They have a beautiful walkable downtown with great stores and restaurants (Bogey's has great food). When you are done walking the downtown you can visit Sherwood Island State Park which is great to watch sunsets. On a clear day you can see the Manhattan skyline too. There is a minimal fee to enter state parks but IMO it is worth it.
