May I know your view on Greenwich Academy in terms of their quality of academics? Is it considered the best private school in CT?

I don't know anything about private schools, but I know Choate Rosemary Hall, in Wallingford, CT is one of the best for Connecticut, and maybe even the north east. People send their children from all over the world there.

Thanks and yes, I heard the same about Choate Rosemary Hall. But I am
looking for private elementary school.

Does anyone know which private school is best in CT in terms of academic achievement?

Thank you.

have you looked on greatschools.net? Just because a school is supposed to be *the best* doesn't always mean that it will be the right fit for your children and their learning styles..you should tour local private schools to see which one works best for them

Smile Yes!

I myself attended Greenwich Academy in Elementrary school. It's fun and exciting-warm and welcoming-it was one of the best times of my life. truly! Be prepared however-it's extremely hard to get into...and as you or your child gets older-once entering middle school-the work load becomes insane. It harvest fairly competetive yet ultimately extremely intelligent and hard working kids. Be ware however, Greenwich at times can be a privelaged society, and sometimes cliques and social parts of the school (especially concerning wealth-ect.) can be difficult. However, it's like that at most schools. But that's the middle school. The Elementrary is an amazing experiance with kind, sweet teachers. I always felt loved.

"Best" is impossible to quantify since independent schools aren't judged on the same linear measurements used to score public schools. Particularly in elementary schools where they don't take their first standardized testing until 4th grade -and you better believe - the schools keep that data top secret. But if you're looking in Greenwich - you may want to check out Greenwich Country Day as well.

Greenwich Academy just completed a $10 million renovation. It looks much better now!

I went to a few private schools in Fairfield County (KLHT and GFA). They are very clique and competitive. Your child must have expensive designer clothes (even though there is a uniform) to be liked. Also, if your family does not belong to a country club and have an expensive new car things will be difficult. In adition to talking with their friends about their parents' salaries many of those kids enjoy flaunting their ribbons from their out of school activities. The latter could be seen in positive light perhaps. The athletic departments at these schools are excellent and enjoyable, and often the teachers are more attentive to students' individual needs then at the public schools in the area. Make sure your kid keeps his or her shirt tucked in or they will have to stay after school in detention. Individual expression is less encouraged in that part of Connecticut, as is a respect for people at all income levels. A good education, though, is very important. The kids can start being very judgemental and mean at about the third grade and the teachers will tend to ignore it.
