Milford is a great community and usually 15 min to all the theatres and restaurants in New Haven. 17 miles of beaches, questionable areas? Compared to other cities, that is a bit of a stretch, of course there are less desirable areas and you will be able to tell that by home prices. The lievly downtown area is a great place to live, historic homes, walk to many restaurants, harbor.
The commute to Sikorsky is very easy, and there are many colleges and universities within a short commute.

If you are looking to stay as close to the beach as possible why not look in Lordship in Stratford. As a matter of fact anywhere in Stratford you will be 10 mins and under to Sikorsky. The Putney area of Stratford is right near Sikorsky and is desirable. There are a ton of nice areas in Stratford that will fit the discription of what you are looking for. As mentioned in the previous posts, the Nichols area of trumbull is nice as well as Huntington Center in Shelton, although both are a bit quieter. For a little more downtwn life without the urban feel the Center of Fairfield near the train station is a good bet within a walk to plenty of amenities. Milford Center is another good call.

Ive got to say Stratford may be a good call. Best value in Fairfield County going right now. Good luck. Most of the towns mentioned are good.

Default Stratford

STRATFORD would be a GREAT choice for what you are describing. Commute time would be nothing for your husband and you could afford a FANTASTIC home there, either in the woods, near the beach, on a couple of lakes or in the historic district. It has easy access to the train, I-95 and the Merritt. Shopping is a breeze from there. Your husband would be close enough to pop home for lunch....that could be a pro or con though
