hi all,

stumbled on this thread and just have to throw in my small town of Trumbull, CT. Can hop on Metro North at Stratford, Bpt., or Fairfield and be in NYC in an hour...
Have a neighbor who drives in early everyday on I-95 or Merrit Pkwy. I'm aout 15 minutes from Westport/Norwalk and prices of homes at less. 1o minutes if that, from Fairfield.
Moderator cut: advertisingThis has been my 'Safe Zone' for 20 yrs. ...lol
Anyways ... I suggest Trumbull CT. Look it up.....

Good Luck in your future endeavors!

AEP you need help. Manhattan? A great City, but everyone is way too busy to be friendly, and it changes every 20 years or so -- I grew up there, I know.

BTW, Chester, Connecticut seems like a lovely small town from what I've read. Lots of activities and a wonderful lake. I plan to visit sometime soon.

Not good. You're better off taking the train out of Fairfield or Bridgeport. The Fairfield station has parking issues but I believe a new one is being built to open in 2010 so that should relieve some of the parking problems.

As for the commute - my sister commutes from Woodbridge to Norwalk on the Merritt Parkway and it takes her sometimes 90+ minutes to go 31 miles.

It will probably take at least an hour. The commute is pretty awful.

I work in the city, and I'm thinking of moving to Weston CT. How do I get to NYC from Weston, and how long is the commute?

Weston is a beautiful town. You would have to drive to one of the train stations along Metro North Railroad's New Haven Line. The closest would be Westport or South Norwalk. Parking at these stations (at least at Westport's) can be an issue so you need to check into availability.

Depending on the train you catch, the ride into Manhattan is about an hour from South Norwalk. I would estimate that the total trip time is about 80 to 90 minutes depending on how far from Grand Central you work. Jay

Is the 80-90 minute commute including the drive to Westport or South Norwalk to Grand central? I sometimes have to work until late evenings-midnight. How safe is the South Norwalk station for a female, or for anyone for that matter?<br>
