Clinton; along the shore very nice town, near beaches. Limited rents will be pricey. Very low crime rate. New Haven is 20 miles to the west. New London about 22 miles to the east. Rents will be well above $800 for 1 bedroom.

Enfield; closer to Springfield (7 miles away) then Hartford (15 miles) Working class- good town, very affordable home prices, rentals will be reasonable. Low crime. Rents will average near $800 and above for 1 bedroom

Norwalk; Affordable for Fairfield county- some gritty areas- not a bad town. Near Bridgeport and Stamford (closer)
Rentals in good areas will be very high. Crime rate near average. 1 bedroom rents will be well above $1000

Norwich; in eastern CT- downtown renaissance, reasonable rental costs, low crime. Proximity to much. 30 miles to Hartford. 12 miles to New London. Rents will average $700-900$ for 1 bedroom

Southbury; rather upscale small town in Fairfield county near I 84 in south western CT. Rentals likely to be expensive. Crime very low. Waterbury is the closest largest City, Danbury down I 84 is next. Limited rents will average above $1000

Waterford; near New London on the south eastern shore. Near nice beaches, and the Casino's and more. Low crime, rentals will be average to above high average.

Willimantic; in the states eastern 'quiet corner'. Some gritty areas- becoming very arts oriented- near Eastern CT State University. On the upswing- crime average in town- below average outside of town. Rentals will be very reasonable. Hartford is about 25 miles away.

Windsor; Oldest town in the state with Wethersfield (1634) In transition with more diverse demographics. Very pleasant town center- north end very pleasant. Low crime rate in the north end. Rentals will be reasonable. Next to Hartford.

Sky,

Thank you. This helps me to narrow my list.

You didn't mention anything on Kensington??

Thanks.

Hey Sky,
I can't say I know the New London area, so I am asking you if you know any great B&B's in that area, where a couple could just get away from everything, some great restaurants, and maybe some things to do, keeping in mind the type of weather we have now?

yup forgot Kensington- nice town outside of New Britain and Berlin- sort of a bedroom community. Shopping along route 372. Rents will be average for central Connecticut ($800+) a month for a good quality 1 bedroom. New Britain is close- Hartford is 10-15 miles away. Low crime rate,

B & B'S in New London

there is a very upscale inn in Old Lyme (Bee and Thistle Inn)

see this link for Bed and Breakfasts in the new London and eastern CT http://www.mysticcountry.com/Lodging/BBsandInns/?criteria=general (broken link)

THE same web site will highlight restaurant's and more- just navigate around the different offerings

Willimantic is in Windham county... It is. Never made the assertion either way- in any case what is the point?-

As for Southbury- yes it is in New Haven Cty- but very close to the border of Fairfield- OMG- these corrections- should I ask who is my Daddy?

Perhaps it might be best to answer the individuals questions with an honest and broad stroke- instead of subtle personal attacks-

I am a little confused but I think all Rich was saying was that Willimantic is part of the "Town of Windham". The town of Windham is also part of Windham country which is part of the "quiet corner".

I wouldn't consider Windham/Willimantic a huge part of the "quiet corner" because it is on the western most fringe, near 2 universities, and easy (most of the time) access to Hartford. If the freeway between Bolton and Windham ever got completed, Windham would be a bedroom community to Hartford like Colchester.
