Default It depends

Not to complicate things, but I have found these to be differentiators when comparing services:
  • where do you live?
  • terms? cash/COD; credit/bill; or budget plan;
  • do you want to pre-buy at a fixed price or play the spot buy market?
  • do you want a service contract included/attached?
  • auto delivery vs on call?
  • 'quality' of the fuel. i am told but haven't substantiated via experience.
  • (there may be others I forgot...)
Depending on these answers the 'best' may vary.

Sorry I can't help using those parameters. Hopefully others can, and tell who they use that matches. Good luck.

Standard and Gault are very reputable. Go with either of those, whichever one can give you the best price!

We've been using Standard for almost a year, and besides the annoying telemarketing they do to cross-sell their services (alarms, etc.) they've been very good. We used Hoffman before, and had nothing but problems with their customer service.

I would never suggest Dominick oil, since Randy is making the business decisions the place has gone in the sewer. Dino is good, and if you want a full service company go to Rowayton oil they will bend over backwards to help you.

It's very regional in terms of who services what areas. I was not a fan of Apple but really REALLY liked Chicko's Energy Services. I think they were local to Milford, Orange, Stratford area but they did deliver to me in East Haven with a minimum 100 gallons.

I would call around and look to see if they offer discounts for either automatic refills or for CoD, I got $.20 off each gallong for CoD with Chicko's. But we also had oil for just the heat and our hot water was gas (I didn't own the house so not my preference). I went through a tank a year.
