1.5 acres? please....

I work mine off too, guess I am just willing to go a little above and beyond

If it bothers the OP that much mow it. If not, call the town. My guess will be by the time the town gets to it, winter will be here and it won't make a difference.

Can one just show up and mow someone's lawn without permission? I'd wager they would be highly offended perhaps outraged.

Well, perhaps outraged enough to mow it themselves no? Its pretty simple, if they tell you to stop, you stop.

Extending this idea, anyone feeling neighborly who would like to clean my oven and mop my floors, is more than welcome. I promise not to be offended

I wasn't thinking of "offended" in the sense of one's feelings hurt, when my ex-neighbors were "offended" they stole from us, threatened us, vandalized our property .......... generally made our lives miserable. Not everything is as easy as you suggest.

Yea, 1.5 acres. I live in a very rural area where people generally have 5-10 acre lots. I cleared it myself and GC'd the house too. I also did alot of the house build (me and my Dad). So you dont have the "hard work" thing cornered by any stretch. Although you might think so...

Actually it really is easy. You start the mower, walk over and start mowing. If they tell you to stop, you stop.

I can't believe you people are running with this because I suggested that someone help out a neighbor rather than whining and complaining about it.

Has it occured to anyone (or the OP) that perhaps their mower broke and they can't afford to get it repaired or buy a new one? OR Perhaps there is a health issue and the person who usually mows can't?

Thank God that none of you are my neighbors. Mine actually help each other out when there is a need in the neighborhood.

Well then UCONN you are blessed ............. I responded to the OP's post because their plight sounded like my experience. One example of perhaps a hundred .............. I look out of my front window to see neighbor's guests spraypainting automobile rims under my tree. I request they refrain. I am asked if I own the f**king street in an uncivil manner. Words are exchanged, the evening is uncomfortable.

Things are just not always simple. I have to go mow my lawn also ............... 2.5 acres with lots of leaves

I see your point, but that goes beyond a lawn that needs to be mowed and loud neighbors. I was responding to that part of it. Sounds like a neighborhood issue in your case. Hopefully you are in better circumstances these days.
