When I was a kid our neighbors did this with a shed. My dad was friends with the neighbor so in exchange for building the shed 2 feet on our property we were allowed to keep a pile of cement bags in the back of the shed.

The piece of land was waaay in the woods though and separated from the house by about 200ft of trees and leaching fields.

Don't let 'em do it. Call town hall and have it stopped before the pavement hits the ground, that way it won't have to be removed.

If you permit this to be done, you are condoning it - that makes the possession "open and notorious". Contact the bar association and get yourself aconsultation with a real estate attorney through the lawyer referral program.

Geez before calling out the hounds, why not just walk next door, knock on the door and have a conversation. If there is resistence, mention that action will have to be taken.

What happened to communication in this country? Why do we automatically run for the lawyers instead of knocking on a neighbors door and having a face to face?

I agree!

while you may be friends with this neighbor (just a guess) explain the risks ans possibble property value loss to your home/lot. If you ever chose to sell, this might affect it!
