Does anyone live on Tunxis hill cut off? I saw a house on the internet on Chapman ave and The Tunxis hill cutoff. Is the traffic really bad? What do you think of the area (safe etc?) and your opinion of the Mckinley School.

Thanks in advance!!

I doubt that the specific neighborhood could support that listing price. Also, it's misleading to claim it was constructed in 2005. Renovated perhaps, but certainly not built from the ground up in '05. Tunxis Hill is a great starter neighborhood, but i'm not sure this specific house fits the neighborhood.

I live about a mile from there.

Tunxis Hill Cutoff is very busy, so if the house is right on Tunxis Hill Cutoff, there might be an issue. You really just need to go look at it and get a feel for yourself. It's hard to know whether it's good for you without knowing what your other options are.

As for safety, I've always felt perfectly safe there. It's low crime like the rest of Fairfield. My friends' kids both have gone to McKinley School (one is in there now) and they've done well there.

Sorry, I can't comment on that particular street but I saw the pics and thought the renovation was done very nicely! What a beautiful house and it still maintains its original charm.

I would drive around the area during peak traffic hours and see what you think.

The year built is showing as 1918 on the tax card in Fairfield.

Yes, the listing says it is a 1918 bungalow that was renovated recently. Its a beautiful home...I have no idea about the busyness of the street though.

It appears that they gave a lot of thought to the design aspect, but if you look a bit closer at the pictures, you'll see that materials are not as high-end as they appear at first blush. It's a nice home that appears to have been renovated very smartly on a modest budget. I'm not sure the listing price reflects the more modest renovation costs though.

Thanks for the feedback. My main concern is being right on the road. Don't think I could spend 500k to hear constant traffic.

I would say that $500K is high for that location, especially in this market. If they don't want to take less than that, they'll probably be sitting with that house for a long while.
