Actually

I think a great Lobster roll can be as enticing as broiled lobster at a New England clambake- or stuffed lobster in a good seafood restaurant.

Clam Chowder or 'Chowda' is of course found nationally, but the best is at Legal Seafood in the Boston area. Great chowder though here in CT as well.

As for 'Package stores' still used here- perhaps less so then 30 years ago-
Grinders- used mostly everywhere-

'Shoreline' over the coast-

Though a sub and a grinder are TECHNICALLY the same thing, there can be a world of difference.

Something I and other New Englanders have lamented on moving south is the difficulty in finding a pizza joint that makes a good grinder. I hate Subway. That's not a grinder, it's kind of a long, fat sandwich. Here in TN there's a chain called Firehouse Subs. It's as close as I can get. I think there's one near you in Augusta on Washington Rd. somewhere, too.

To paraphrase, "If you've eaten a toasted grinder from a Mom and Pop pizza joint, no explanation is necessary. If you haven't, no explanation is possible."

I hope downtown Hartford gets a Legal seafood sometime soon. Front street would be a good location for it, their Chowder is amazing!

For the kid in all of us: Fluffernutters. After moving South, I discovered that Fluff is a regional thing. Who knew?!

My favorites:
Maine (Wiscasset) lobster rolls
Brooklyn, New York pizza
Baltimore crab cakes
Pennsylvania's Yeungling beer
North Carolina style pulled pork with a hushpuppie side
Time for a road trip!

Smile I'm Starvin'

There are no good quality restaurants like Providence. So I go to Providence or Auburn, MA for food or Mall shopping/ civilization.
