Yet, the odds are very long that December 2011 will pass with zero snowfall at Central Park, NY…
1989 was going to go down as the first Dec. in history in which every day averaged below normal in temperature but then New Year's Eve was above normal.

An interesting kind of related side note I once read about......in 1968 it would've been the first ever FEBRUARY in Central Park to not even get a trace of snow......but then 1.1" fell on Leap Day (Feb. 29).

(The snowless Feb. did finally happen in 1998, another strange record year in that the first snowfall of 1" or more didn't happen until March 22, when 5" fell)

Center of storm still over West Virginia. Rain moving into the state now.

Its a 996mb low right now. If it strengthens per model agreement, winds should pick up tonight. Maybe power outages due to saturated grounds and loose limbs.

Oh and btw - New Years eve is a clipper but no big deal. Very light stuff and warm temps dont want to let go this year so who knows at this point.

After todays storm, temps will plummet but return shortly after.

Euro and CMC continue to show Blizzard January 3rd. GFS nothing. Anyone who follows Henry's video blogs know Henry has been downplaying EVERY storm this year. Anti Hypemaster this year. LOL He said Throw out the Euro, Its Garbage!

Lets hope the power stays on for everyone. Winds gusting as high as Irene did. Right now gusting to 40 at BDR. http://www.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KBDR.html

Storm now 994mb low. Forecasted to strengthen to a 989.

These strong winds should last till 1am then just be sporatic gusty all morning.

7200 no power in CT from CL&P. Not sure about UI. Buoy on Long Island sound reporting 58mph wind gusts. This is about the same as Irene without the leaves on trees.

Rain will be completely done by midnight now. Wind gusts to 30mph will continue till tomm.

Toasty 58 degrees out there. About 20 degrees above normal. Wow! Its like a tropical system in December.

Nothing else to talk about. Not confident in cold temps for New Years Eve but a clipper still comes through. Rain or snow it will be light. Maybe Icy travel North of 84.

One thing I love about New England Weather, if you dont like the pattern, just wait a couple weeks. lol

No big storms on the models anymore. No blocking. BUT.......

It will get cold tonight and even colder next week with highs in the 20s and teens north of us. BUT.......

Without blocking, 40s come right back.

You guys better hope there's big storms in Jan/February for one reason... If we dont, then it's possible we have Nor'Easters and Tropical storms heading this way again. You can mark my words on that. We need to get that pattern out of the way now so blocking disappears for Spring/Summer.
